This book contains a series of interesting photographs by various photographers, hence a second star. Most of the photographs are matched with each photographer's brief description of how the image came to exist, or some historical information.On this slight framework, the author attempts to develop principles for making better photographs. "Immerse yourself!" "Put the camera down!" etc. I can't imagine who would benefit from these "principles." Even the rankest amateur, like me, would struggle to find value.I gave my copy to the local library. I suggest you pass on it. Although I haven't always found Michael Freeman's books as useful as I hoped, I always read them with great anticipation because they seldom offered the same fare as other photography books.
